Praise for Nenagh Tourist Office

The people of Nenagh are “in for a treat” when they visit the new tourist office on Banba Square, Cllr Michael O'Meara told a recent meeting of the municipal district.

He said the new facility, which is set to open in November, is “so much more than tourism” and demonstrates the commitment of the district executive to promoting the town and its hinterland.

Cllr Séamie Morris praised the knowledge and passion of District Administrator Rosemary Joyce in bringing the project to fruition. The new tourist office would provide a “fantastic window for people coming into Nenagh of what Nenagh and north Tipperary has to offer”, Cllr Morris said.

Cllr John Carroll was “gobsmacked” at the amount of work that has gone into old town hall office, which promotes all aspects of local heritage and life. He praised all involved in an “outstanding job of work”.

For Cllr Ger Darcy, the imagination and spirit that has gone into Nenagh Tourist Office would make it very different to similar facilities elsewhere in the country. He recalled people being frustrated at having a tourist office that was only open for a few months of the year; now the council had its own facility and it would prove hugely positive for the town.

Cllr Joe Hannigan also praised the vision of the council executive, while Director Marcus O'Connor said Ms Joyce had led the project and invested a lot of her personal time and energy into it, along with design consultant Ann Scroope.

Also looking forward to the office opening, Ms Joyce said she had been motivated by Ms Scroope's vision for the project.
