New classrooms for North Tipp school

Fianna Fáil TD for Tipperary, Jackie Cahill, has confirmed that approval has finally been granted for the construction of two Special Educational Needs (SEN) classrooms for Scoil Mhuire, Portroe.

Deputy Cahill received confirmation of this development last week from Education Minister, Norma Foley. He thanked the minister for her continued work with him on a number of educational projects around the county.

The Thurles-based TD said: “I am pleased to receive confirmation from Minister Norma Foley that she has granted approval for construction to proceed for Scoil Mhuire, Portroe. This will allow for the full new development of two new SEN classrooms and will be a major boost for primary level education in the area.

“I would like to congratulate School Principal, Sheila McCarthy, and the Board of Management for progressing this project to date. I would also like to thank Education Minister, Norma Foley, for her ongoing efforts in relation to securing approval for capital projects around the county,” Deputy Cahill concluded.
