Looking forward to Nenagh’s St Patrick’s Day festival

Live music and markets in courthouse grounds

A celebration of Nenagh's music and market culture in the heart of its historic quarter, preparations are well underway for next week's St Patrick's Day festival.

An exciting lineup of local music and dancing talent has been confirmed for the day, which will also feature a series of stalls selling local produce. David Spain of Spain AV and Nenagh Live, which is presenting the festival in association with Tipperary Co Council, said he is delighted with how preparations are going for this exciting new event.

“There will be coffee, candy floss and a great selection of food and locally-made products and vendors from all over the locality,” he said of the market. “We'll have members of the Nenagh Country Market and the Cloughjordan Country Market selling their wares.”

Mr Spain added that Tipperary Fire & Rescue Service will be onsite on the day with a fire engine, and members will give a safety demonstration with fire extinguishers as part of a recruitment drive for new volunteers.

The gardaí are also on board and will have a community policing stand onsite at which to meet local people.

Further additions to the festival include a large LED video screen in the window of the old Rialto Cinema/former Sheahan's hardware premises. This will be in operation from this Thursday to promote the St Patrick’s Day festival the various events happening throughout the town over the long weekend.

Nenagh Tourist Office will be open on the day of the festival as well, affording people the opportunity to inspect the enticing displays of local history, art, culture and sport inside the newly-opened facility, as well as live music at 3pm. There will also be in-office video presentations and virtual content for the public to see.

Nenagh Castle will be open to the public on the day too, as will Nenagh Heritage Centre.
