Tipp could have more supporters at away clash with Waterford

By Shane Brophy

Tipperary should have very strong support for the Munster Hurling Championship opener against Waterford in Walsh Park on Sunday 17th April, provided premier county fans take up their allocation of tickets.

With a capacity of just 11,000, demand will exceed supply for the hugely anticipated clash, and if Tipp fans take up all their allocated tickets, they could have more support at the Waterford venue despite being the away team.

This is because Tipperary have a larger number of season-ticket holders in 2022, than Waterford, with all of those supporters from both counties getting access to a ticket. Tipperary have around 2,300 season ticket holders.

Once allocations for players and sponsors are taken care of, the remaining tickets will be split evenly between both counties, as is the case with all championship games, with Tipperary expecting an allocation of somewhere around 3,500. Those tickets will go through the clubs in the county, meaning there will be no public sale of tickets for the Waterford v Tipperary game when the Munster Council open their ticket portal next Tuesday, 5th April at 11.00am.

However, on that date, Tipperary supporters will be able to purchase tickets for the games against Clare (April 24th in FBD Semple Stadium) and Limerick (May 8th at TUS Gaelic Grounds), with tickets for the final game against Cork on May 22nd to be made available at a later date.
