Liliana’s ‘egg-selent’ presents gesture

A seven-year-old Nenagh girl collected 22 Easter eggs for children of Ukrainian refugees being accommodated in the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh.

Liliana Wegner, a pupil in Saint Mary’s Convent Primary School, saved some of her own eggs and received help from a Nenagh woman who learned of the kind gesture she was planning.

To coincide with Easter celebrated by Ukrainians, Liliana visited the hotel on Saturday last with a large plastic bag-full of eggs and presented them to the delighted children who, like their parents, have fled the ravages of war in their home country.

Liliana’s mum Kasia, tells us that her daughter received great help from Nenagh woman, Antoinette Cleary, who assisted her in the collection of eggs and other chocolate delights for the young refugees. Antoinette, along with her friends, had already been involved with others in the Nenagh and wider North Tipperary area collecting clothes, food, and hygiene items, which Liliana’s mother then shipped to her home country of Poland to aid Ukrainian families.
