Sow and Grow community gardening programme

Silver Arch Family Resource Centre launched their most recent community programme in Nenagh last Saturday.

‘Sow and Grow’ is a six-week gardening programme for families of all ages who want to learn more about sowing and growing salads, vegetables, herbs and flowers from seeds and plants.

Led by social farmer Albert Nolan, participants got to get their hands dirty in sowing lots of seeds such as beetroot, peas, nasturtiums and plants such as cabbage, lettuce and borage.

Using the fantastic facilities in Nenagh Community Garden, everyone can look forward to watching their seeds sprout and grow, and eventually plant out in the ground they prepared.

The programme isn’t all about sowing; participants got to see the different types of insects that can be found in our garden, and find out how important they are to helping your garden grow.

There are still some places left, so you can make enquiries or book your place by ringing Silver Arch Family Resource Centre reception at 067-31800. See also www.silverarchfrc.ie for more.
