A proud moment for Network Ireland Tipperary

President Laura Bourke was recently asked by the Central Bank of Ireland to present feedback from the business community to the Governor of the Central Bank. A representation of the business community members attended on the day when Governor Gabriel Makhlouf travelled to Tipperary on Wednesday last, July 13.

“Business moves fast in 2022. There is a frenzy in the market and we are all working fast to support our growing businesses in ever changing markets. Our banking and other financial institutions need to be set up in a way that they actually support businesses rather than over restrict them. The Central Bank plays a clear role in this and needs to ensure the financial system operates in the best interests of consumers and the wider economy,” said Laura Bourke, Founder of Aspire Recruitment. Various elements were discussed including inflation, banking access challenges, insurance, insolvency services, lending, negative interest rates, cryptocurrency and the impact of the recent cessation of executive pensions to company directors. A thorough and open conversation ensued with all participants involved. Governor Makhlouf listened and took on board the feedback. He was interested in hearing what is happening across Ireland particularly post Covid lockdowns. Regulation in all sectors is important however it is vital that it supports our collective business efforts, and not strangle them. Entrepreneurship is a strong feature within the Irish economy and a deep resilience exists amongst our society that is hugely valuable. The Central Bank of Ireland has a responsibility to ensure that this commercial entrepreneurial spirit is supported, particularly during this ever-changing business landscape.
