TD's visit to Scohaboy Bog

Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill visited Scohaboy Bog Special Area of Conservation in Cloughjordan last Friday afternoon to find out more about the raised bog restoration programme at the site, which has seen three major State-funded conservation works projects to date.

Approximately 1,000 acres in size, Scohaboy is Tipperary's flagship peatland restoration project and one of the most successful community supported conservation and climate action projects of its kind in Ireland today. The Cloughjordan Community Development Committee are the local partners in the award winning project, which brings together a wide range of stakeholders including Coillte Forest, NPWS, Bord Na Móna, Cloughjordan Heritage Group, Cloughjordan Tidy Towns Group, local landowners, etc. On his visit, Mr Cahill was brought through the conservation story to date and Scohaboy's role as an effective nature based solution for national climate and biodiversity challenges. The walks at Scohaboy Bog and Sopwell Woodlands are also an important amenity and wellbeing resource for locals and visitors alike.
