High rate of covid in Tipp

Tipperary is home to the third highest rate of Covid-19 in the country, according to the latest figures based on people who test positive after taking a PCR test.

There were 1,052 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Tipperary in the 14 days up to July 19 last. This represented a rate of 659.3 per 100,000 people, which was the third highest rate in Ireland, behind neighbouring counties Laois and Offaly. Mayo had the lowest rate, according to the most recently published Government data, which no longer includes a breakdown of cases by Local Electoral Area.

The total cumulative number of cases recorded in County Tipperary since the pandemic began stood at 50,955.
