Nenagh Walking Club visits Killarney

On Thursday, July 21, Nenagh Walking Club members departed from Dundag Pier, Muckross Park, Killarney on a boat trip up through Muckross Lake and into the long ridge connection to the upper lake.

This is a two-hour magical boat trip through Killarney's lakes under Shehy and Tommy's mountains, and the Eagles Nest. Disembarking at Lord Brandon's Cottage, the walkers began a five-hour hike through Derrycunnihy ancient oak woods along the Kerry Way.

Then climbing up into Eskhnamuck Glen to cross cascades and on along the old Kenmare Road valley, set between Torc and Mangerton mountains to picturesque Torc waterfall and back to Muckross House.

All the tired and overjoyed walkers agreed that Killarney lakes and mountains are well deserving of the title ‘Beauty's Home’.
