Ukraine day in Nenagh

Wednesday, August 24, is Independence Day of Ukraine.

It is the main state holiday in Ukraine, celebrated on August 24 in commemoration of the Declaration of Independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

The local Ukrainian community will be marking the event on Wednesday and at the weekend. Patricia Ahern of the Nenagh support group working with Ukrainian refugees in the town is hoping that everyone in the community will show solidarity at this time. She is asking business owners to put up Tipp flags, or colours similar to the Ukrainian national flag, to show solidarity with those displaced by the ongoing war.
