Over 150 guests attend the opening of Chartered Capital

200-year-old building is restored in the heart of Nenagh

The opening of a new business is always a reason for celebration - and so it was for Chartered Capital, a financial planning and advisory business, which opened its doors recently on Kenyon Street in Nenagh. Chartered Capital is owned by Diarmuid Corcoran, a Templederry native, and son of Maureen and Vincent Corcoran, who now lives in nearby Newtown with his wife, Naomi, and their three sons.

Over 150 guests were on hand for the official opening of the revamped office in the heart of Nenagh, and for refreshments and entertainment at the nearby Peppermill Restaurant & Wine Bar. Guests had the opportunity to wander through the newly renovated property and all were extremely impressed by the remarkable renovation carried out on the 200-year-old building. The business was officially opened by local TD, Alan Kelly, who wished Diarmuid and the team every success in the years ahead.

“I am very proud of what we have built,” said Diarmuid in his speech. “We wouldn’t be here tonight if it weren’t for the kindness and support of everyone here, and so many more who couldn’t be with us. They say it takes a village to raise a child - I think it takes a whole town to restore a 200-year-old building!”

Diarmuid paid tribute to the great work carried out by Tim O’Brien, Celine Forde, Jimmy Martin, Shane O’Gorman, Greg Carey, John O’Shaughnessy, Andy Fitzpatrick, and their respective teams, in the renovation of 53 Kenyon Street. “We are very fortunate to have such strong skill sets right on our doorstep in this great little town!” Diarmuid brings huge experience to the business, having trained as a Chartered Accountant with PwC, and subsequently becoming a Qualified Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner™. In 2020, he established Chartered Capital and took on the task of renovating the building at 53 Kenyon Street. Diarmuid’s background in accounting and financial planning gives him a unique insight and position to provide comprehensive financial planning advice, in particular, to company directors and business owners.

Diarmuid is joined in the business by his wife, Naomi, whom he praised for her unwavering support, as he left full-time employment to set up the business in the middle of a pandemic. “Often, when it comes to making a big decision in life you find yourself looking for reasons not to do it, stick with the status quo, the easier option. Naomi continuously backs and supports every decision I make and is always a fantastic sounding board for me.” He is also joined in the company by Business Development Executive, Dr Noel Kelly, who has over 40 years’ experience in the engineering and construction sector, operating worldwide. Catherine Power is Chartered Capital’s formidable Office Manager, while Caroline Coyle is the company’s Compliance Consultant.

“At Chartered Capital our client experiences are the most important part of what we do,” said Diarmuid. “We are not in the business of taking over the world of finance, we are however, in the business of providing high-quality, personalised financial planning advice to generate better outcomes for our clients. Our success will always be measured by our clients’ successes, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m very fortunate to work in a profession that I love, a profession where great friends become clients, and clients become great friends.”
