Cruiser in distress at Ballina bridge
On Friday last at 6pm, Killaloe Coast Guard unit was tasked after a cruiser with three persons on board, was reported to be in difficulty at Ballina-Killaloe bridge.
On arriving at the scene, the volunteer team found that the cruiser had become stuck against the navigation markers in strong currents leading under the bridge. A crew member was transferred on board the casualty vessel to confirm that all on board were safe and well, and that the vessel had not sustained any damage.
Once this was confirmed a tow line was set and the vessel was taken to safer waters where the skipper was able to take control and make his way to the jetty where the cruiser was safely secured.
A shore team made its way to the scene by road and was standing by to assist.
