Local athletes on their marks for the Dublin Marathon

It's that time of year again when over 20,000 athletes take to the streets of Dublin for the annual Dublin City Marathon.

It's the first time since 2019 that the Templemore athletes will take on the famous 26.2-mile course.

There have been early mornings, late evenings, speed sessions, threshold runs, tempo runs, hillwork over the Devil's Bit and a weekly trek to the cross of Pallas with a recovery dip at the sandtrap.

For many of these experienced marathon runners, this brings an end to many months of training and hard work, and a welcome return to the streets of Dublin.

Apart from those pictured, Paddy Clarke, Seamus Duggan, Emmet Breen and Joe Mockler will also represent Templemore. But they couldn’t have prepared without their training colleagues in Borrisoleigh and joining them on the start line in Dublin on Sunday morning will be Caroline Hassett, Margaret Meehan, Michelle Ryan, Aisling Kennedy, Mary Stapleton, Eibhlin Maher, Gemma Brereton, Donie Ryan, John Vahey, David Ryan, Philip McBain, Tom Stamp, Ray O’Riordan. We wish all the athletes the very best of luck and, most importantly, we hope they all return fit and well. Enjoy the day.
