Clough’ hosts circus gathering

Zach North, of the Dublin Circus Project; Guilllermo Baena, of In Your Space Circus, and Derry and Holly Kennedy, of Cloughjordan Circus Club, showcase their juggling skills at the Irish Youth Circus Gathering, in Cloughjordan. CONORCloughjordan Circus Club were delighted to host and take part in the Irish Youth Circus Gathering last weekend.
They welcomed 28 young participants as well at 10 youth circus facilitators to Cloughjordan from Circusful (Belfast), In Your Space Circus (Derry), Galway Community Circus, Cork Circus Factory and Dublin Circus Project. They were joined by up to 15 members of Cloughjordan Circus Club for a fun packed weekend of circus workshops, social events and performances.
Young people took part in a full programme of circus workshops throughout the three days! Skills and activities included tableslide, juggling, unicycle, acrobalance, chair stack and funambulism (that's wire walking with a long pole!) and performance.
On Saturday evening they presented a Circus Cabaret featuring the amazing guest tutor Simon Llewellyn all the way from Sorin Sirkus in Finland! He performed a number of fantastic acts as part of our cabaret alongside acts from all the visiting tutors.
This was a chance for members of the public and our young people to see some fantastic professional circus performances and they ended the show by creating the now traditional All Ireland human pyramid!
The weekend culminated on Sunday morning with festival favourites including a Unicycle Hockey Tournament in the local GAA Hall.
