Awards night at Templemore College

On Friday, November 11, Templemore College of Further Education held its first awards night since 2019.

Students and staff gathered in the Templemore Arms to celebrate and acknowledge their achievements and success. Dr Noel Colleran presented certificates to Level 5 and 6 graduates of the full time programmes in the college. He also presented Leaving Certificate Applied certificates to the Céim Eile, Youthreach students.

Dr Noel, who has been principal for over 10 years in the college, has moved to Tipperary ETB’s senior management team to aid in the development of the Further Education and Training College of the Future. Micheal Lenihan will now take up the position of Principal with Jane Quinlan moving to Deputy Principal.

Other graduates were Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) students, who achieved Level 4 awards in modules such as Woodcraft, Word Processing, Horticulture and Home Maintenance and Repair. These individuals were presented with their certificates by Kathleen Grimes, the BTEI co-ordinator for Tipperary. The last group to be presented were Syrian refugees, who had achieved certification in Reading and Writing (ESOL). Lavinia English presented these certs and they were commended by Kaye Mullaney, Adult Education Officer, on their fantastic achievement.

In his speech, Noel described the ethos of the college as one that provides respect and that encourages the student to develop self-esteem and confidence, and therefore allows them to achieve, both personally and academically. A number of these students have moved on to employment, while others have progressed to higher education or further education in Tipperary.

There are a variety of options for graduates of all programmes within Tipperary ETB and if you want to find out more just call Templemore College of Further Education. We’d be delighted to hear from you.
