Tipp hurling managements finalised for 2023

The Tipperary hurling management teams have finalised their set-ups for the 2023 campaign with collective training having begun.

The Tipperary senior hurlers wasted no time getting back out onto Dr Morris Park under new manager Liam Cahill as they started last Thursday, 24th November. The first day of collective training permitted by the GAA.

It was confirmed that former Waterford All-Star defender Tony Browne has been added to the backroom team as performance coach. Browne worked with Cahill in Waterford for the last three years.

Strength and conditioning coach Tommy Ryan will be joined by Borris-Ileigh’s Angelo Walsh who has moved to the senior backroom following a very successful stint with the Tipperary minor hurlers in 2022 and was also with the Borris-Ileigh senior hurlers in reaching the All-Ireland Club Final in 2020.

Tipperary under 20 hurling manager Brendan Cummins has also made some changes to his management team, with 2001 All-Ireland winning defender Tom Costello from Cappawhite replacing Borris-Ileigh’s Martin Maher who has taken up a role with the Offaly senior hurlers.

Tipperary Minor hurling manager James Woodlock has also made a number of changes to his management team, with Toomevara’s Willie Ryan coming in as selector/goalkeeping coach, while strength and conditioning coach Diarmuid Carr also joins the backroom team in place of Angelo Walsh who has moved onto the senior set-up.

James has also been granted a one-year extension to his 3-year term as minor hurling manager.
