Progress on bypass in Tipp
The Fianna Fáil TD for Tipperary, Jackie Cahill has welcomed progress on works to secure a bypass for Tipperary Town. Deputy Cahill spoke with the new Fianna Fáil Minister at the Department of Transport, Jack Chambers this week, who has special responsibility for road transportation, and he is now confident that the 2023 Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) budget will include provision for the Tipperary Town bypass.
Deputy Cahill said: “I spoke with the new Road Transport Minister, Jack Chambers this week and I am pleased to learn that progress is being made in securing provision for the Tipperary Town bypass in the 2023 TII budget.
“I have been working with various local groups in Tipperary Town, including the Chamber of Commerce, Jobs 4 Tipp and March 4 Tipp since this Government took office over two and a half years ago to advance this desperately needed piece of road infrastructure for Tipperary.
“The first big step was getting the N24 enhancement works included in the National Development Plan, which we did with the assistance of the then Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, Minister Michael McGrath and others. Now that that’s in place, we have a mechanism to secure a budget for these works.
“I am pleased with the progress to date, but naturally would like to see this move as quickly as possible. I am grateful for the time Minister Chambers is putting into this and I look forward to further positive announcements in the near future."
