Green light for social houses in Tipp

Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill has confirmed Tipperary County Council has been given approval in principle for 60 social homes in Tipperary.

Approval in principle has been given to Tipperary County Council to acquire 55 turnkey homes on Thomas Street in Clonmel. They comprise a mix of houses and apartments.

The construction of six new homes at Cuchulainn Road in Thurles have also been given approval in principle.

Deputy Cahill said: “I’m delighted to receive confirmation from my party colleague, the Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien, that Tipperary County Council is to be given approval in principle to acquire 55 homes in turnkey condition in Clonmel as well six more new homes in Thurles.

“Increasing supply is key to improving the housing market and this positive news today will provide much-needed homes to people in Tipperary.

“Fianna Fáil is committed to delivering good quality homes. The Housing for All Plan puts us on the pathway to delivering that objective and to meeting the housing needs of all our people."

He added: "I look forward to seeing these projects progress over the months ahead and seeing these badly-needed homes delivered for people in Tipperary.”
