St Patrick’s Eve date for Ormond’s Munster Final

By Shane Brophy

St Patrick’s weekend will begin a day earlier in Nenagh Ormond as the club’s historic first appearance in the Munster Senior Challenge Cup final has been fixed.

Thursday, 16th March is the date what will be marked in the calendars of players and supporters as Nenagh Ormond take on Young Munster in the final which will take place on the hallowed turf of Thomond Park, with a 7.30pm throw-in.

It is the ideal date for such a prestigious game, particularly for Nenagh who will get a twelve-day build-up as there will be no AIL game the previous weekend, plus it gives them an eight-day build-up to the final block of league games on their quest for promotion from division 2A.

Having accounted for higher tiered opposition in Garryowen and Highfield on route to the final, Nenagh will have it all to do against a Young Munster side who currently lie in fourth place in division 1A of the AIL.
