Tipp bounce back in Monaghan

LADIES FOOTBALL: Lidl National League Division 2 Round 5

Monaghan 0-7

Tipperary 1-11

Tipperary bounced back from their defeat to Laois by producing a strong second half performance to get the better of Monaghan in Magheracloone on Sunday.

In what was Tipperary’s only away game of their seven games, the long trip to Monaghan was a difficult task as they looked to get back to winning ways.

The first half was a tight affair with the sides going in deadlocked at half time, 0-5 apiece, with Aisling Moloney contributing three points with Niamh Martin and Angela McGuigan also on target.

Sub Marie Creedon made an impact off the bench and kicked Tipp back in front after half time and fifteen minutes into the second half the sides were still deadlocked before Aisling Moloney pointed.

The key moment came in the 52nd minute when Clara English struck for the only goal of the game. Aisling Moloney followed up with three points from frees as Tipp recorded a seven-point victory.

Tipp now have a three-week break before they welcome Tyrone to the premier county on St Patrick’s weekend, before they wrap up with a crucial home game against top of the table Armagh.
