New single and tour for James

Nenagh musician James McGrath will this Saturday embark on his first tour of the UK.

The tour coincides with the release of James' new single, ‘Penguin Documentaries’.

These will be his first UK dates in seven years. The Nenagh man will start the tour in Market Drayton, a town outside Stoke where he once lived with his good friend Alex Dale, who shoots James' music videos.

“The tour has a great range of gigs, from your lively club venues to an intimate gig in the famous Green Note club in Camden town, and a festival in the mix also where I'm headlining the festival in Congleton with Jim Kirkpatrick,” James said.

He will also be recording and filming a performance in Crewe next week for a live album. While in the UK, James will again record with Jim Kirkpatrick, the blues guitar maestro who has played in Nenagh on many occasions.

This Saturday also sees the release of ‘Penguin Documentaries’, which is one of James' older songs that has become a fan favourite. He is now releasing the song as a studio-recorded version that has not been heard.

“It's a song about getting in your own way and being too hard on yourself,” the songwriter said of ‘Penguin Documentaries’. “It's a song about dealing with loneliness.”

The single will be available on the usual platforms from this Saturday. For more information about it, the UK tour schedule and lots more, visit James McGrath's Facebook page.
