The council will continue to salt routes.

Motorists urged to take extreme care

The council’s Severe Weather Team met this morning and will continue monitor the weather briefings issued by Met Eireann for latest warnings and forecasts.

Further spells of sleet and snow will continue to spread North East today combined with strong east to northeast winds with poor visibility and hazardous road conditions in some parts.

There has been significant snow fall in the north of the county, and Tipperary County Council urge motorists to take extreme care on the roads as the status orange snow and ice warning remains in place until 10am on Friday leading to icy conditions on the roads. While driving, please pay attention to the weather conditions, keep a safe distance from the car in front, never use your phone, keep both hands on the steering wheel and respect the speed.

The council will continue to salt routes in accordance with its winter maintenance programme 2022/2023, details are available on the website https://www.tipperarycoco.ie/roads-and-transport/roads-winter-maintenance/salting-routes-winter-maintenance-2022-2023
