Sell, sell, sell! Sales apprenticeship course from ETB

Tipperary Education and Training Board (ETB) has launched an exciting addition to their apprenticeship offering in the Further Education and Training Centre, Archerstown, Thurles with the commencement of the new National Sales Apprenticeship in February.

This two-year programme, which leads to a QQ1 Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Sales, was developed by Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB as part of the Government strategy to address skills needs in Ireland. Tipperary is one of only five areas in the country in which it is currently offered, along with Cork, Dublin, Leitrim and Kerry.

The work-based apprenticeship offers learners the opportunity to work and learn using a blend of online delivery (4%), face to face classes (12%) and work-based learning (84%). The Apprenticeship adds to the comprehensive programme of apprenticeship and training courses already available in the Training Centre in Archerstown and across the county.

Jessica Martin, National Programme Manager of the National Sales Apprenticeship, commended Tipperary ETB for the work they have carried out to ensure the successful launch of the Sales Apprenticeship. The employers and mentors were acknowledged for participating in this new course, and the benefits for both the employer and apprentices were also highlighted by Ms Martin.

The benefits of hiring an apprentice include boosting productivity and competitiveness, enhancing customer service, skills enhancement, and providing an investment into the future success of companies. The programme is open to new hires and existing employees, and has been designed by industry professionals to suit industry needs.

The course is fully funded and is suitable for all sectors and companies based anywhere in Ireland. There is an employer grant payable for each apprentice registered by companies. Expressions of interest are currently being taken for the 2024-2026 programme.

Sales Apprenticeship Instructor Mairéad Clohessy can be contacted to arrange a suitability to train assessment.

Speaking at the official launch of the new Sales Apprenticeship in Archerstown on February 28, Ms Bernadette Cullen, Chief Executive of Tipperary ETB, welcomed the first Sales Apprentices to Tipperary ETB and congratulated them on taking the first step in further developing their career in sales.

The apprentices who commenced the course last week come from a variety of industries including manufacturing, agriculture, financial services, motor, utilities, communications and recruitment, and are travelling from several counties including Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, Wexford, Laois and Clare, with a large number also from Tipperary.

A total of 19 apprentices started their two-year course on February 20 with an online induction week, followed by their first face-to-face classes on February 27.
