Borrisokane's Mike Slevin with his unique art creation.

Mike’s charitable donation

The second annual Local Artists Art Exhibition took place in St Flannan's Cathedral, Killaloe, at the end of February. It was a huge success with almost 80 participating professional and amateur artists.

Amongst the paintings, photographs and sculptures, appeared a most unique submission, that of Mike Slevin's from Borrisokane. Over the course of a year, during lockdown, Mike used old egg cartons and other recyclable items to create his fairy house, which became the focal point of the weekend exhibition. Trish Taylor Thompson, curator and organiser of the exhibition, is delighted to announce that Mike Slevin’s ‘Covid 19 Fairy House’ has been purchased by two patrons of the arts.

These wonderful local ladies have had the foresight to donate Mike’s extraordinary work of art to the Children’s Grief Centre in Limerick City. Their thoughtfulness, generosity and vision has secured its future. Knowing that this enchanting and magical fairy house will be enjoyed by numerous children into the future is beyond Mike’s dreams. His year’s work, creating a place of wonder and imagination, will endure for years to come. Heartfelt congratulations to Mike Slevin, who has created a unique legacy and donated his entire fee to the charity.
