The online exhibition commemorates 100 years of Irish stamps.

Tipp Museum's online stamp exhibition

Over the past number of months Tipperary Museum has been working with An Post Archivist and Curator, Stephen Ferguson to produce this online exhibition to commemorate 100 years of Irish stamps.

It examines how these small pieces of paper allow a unique perspective on how we see ourselves as a nation and how, perhaps, we wish to be seen since the formation of our state.

Stephen Ferguson is Assistant Secretary of An Post and has already published on diverse aspects of postal history in Ireland. He has also written extensively on the GPO, its history and its staff. We are delighted to have been able to work with Stephen on this project and to draw from his extensive knowledge. His expertise allowed us to produce not only a visually intriguing display, but also a hugely informative exhibition which focuses on a topic in Irish history that is often glossed over.
