Easter at Nenagh Community Garden

‘Sow and Grow’ started last year for families of all ages who want to learn more about sowing and growing salads, vegetables, herbs and flowers from seeds and plants.

We are back in Nenagh Community Garden this Saturday, April 8, from 10am to 12noon. Led by social farmer Albert Nolan, participants get to dirty their hands in sowing lots of seeds such as beetroot, peas, carrots and salads. Using the fantastic facilities in Nenagh Community Garden, everyone can look forward to watching their seeds sprout and grow, and eventually plant out in the ground they prepared.

Sounds like hard work? Not at all - Albert will also be leading any interested members in our community in a fabulous biodiversity walk around the community garden with a few surprises thrown in; exploring what trees, plants and flowers can be found around us, along with searching for birds, animals and insects that live in our neighbourhood.

There is also a fun special Easter Egg hunt with a difference! Albert will be talking about the importance of each species of flora and fauna, how some are at risk, and what we can do to save the wildflowers, wildlife and insects. This walk is being delivered in partnership with Silver Arch Family Resource Centre, Nenagh Tidy Towns Committee and Tipperary Leader Rural Development Company. So, we hope to see lots of children and adults this Saturday hunting for Easter Eggs with a difference, and looking for plants, animals and insects! Please book your place to avoid disappointment, and children must be accompanied by an adult. For bookings, contact Silver Arch Family Resource Centre at 067-31800.
