McDonald part of new World Rowing record
Ken McDonald, from Moneygall, broke another rowing world record recently.
The Instructor in the Garda College Templemore was part of a ten-man team made up of Olympians, World champions and World record holders who broke the 24-hour world record, covering 432,724 metres in a 24-hour period, beating the former record set by a USA team who had completed 405,113m.
In the process, the group raised over €18,000 for The Gavin Glynn Foundation who support families with children who have cancer.
This is Ken’s fourth world record in rowing having represented Ireland at international level, winning six 6 Masters’ World Championships and 2 European Masters titles, on top of 8 Senior National Championships.
