Tipp’s business students receive certificates at UL
Students from Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary who obtained a distinction (90-100%) in Junior Cycle Business Studies 2022 were presented with Certificates of Achievement from the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick recently at an awards ceremony held in the University Concert Hall. The event, held in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI), celebrates and recognises excellence in Junior Cycle Business Studies.
At this, our first in-person awards ceremony since 2019, students representing 64 secondary schools from Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary, were recognised at the ceremony, with parents, families, guardians, business studies teachers and school principals in attendance.
In welcoming the students to the ceremony, Prof Philip O’Regan, former Dean, Kemmy Business School said: “We are delighted to recognise this fantastic achievement of our young awardees – the region’s top Business Studies students in Junior Cycle 2022. I congratulate all on their wonderful achievement and would also like to pay tribute to the commitment and dedication of their teachers in helping the students achieve such excellence.”
This year’s guest speaker was Catriona O’Halloran, graduate of the BA International Studies who began by congratulating each award recipient. She commented: “The last few years with the pandemic have not been easy. You not only overcame any challenges thrown your way, you triumphed and excelled and sit here tonight having achieved the top grades in Business Studies. It is a fantastic achievement that you should be very proud of.” Catriona went on to offer the following advice: “‘In the next few years you are going to experience a lot of changes, you are going to have some big decisions to make but embrace the change and find ways to enjoy it. Follow what you are passionate about, do it with good intentions and you will always find the right path.”
The triple accredited Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, is one of Ireland’s leading business schools and in the top 1% of Business Schools globally, with a reputation for quality and employability of graduates. This event reinforces the important relationship between Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, and the region’s second-level students, their schools and their business studies teachers. Recent years has seen a significant increase in demand for the school’s undergraduate programmes.
