Junior 'A' Football Championship: In Group 1, Roscrea will host Kilruane MacDonaghs this Friday 5th May at 7.00pm with the winner progressing straight to the North Final.

In Group 2, Kiladangan will host Portroe in Puckane, also at 7.00pm this Friday. A Portroe win will secure their passage to the Final. If Kiladangan win, then it will go down to score difference to see who progresses to the Final (Newport are also in this group).

Junior 'B' Hurling League: Group 2 of the North Junior 'B' Hurling league now has two rounds completed.

Last Friday, Newport had a 2-24 to 2-18 win over Toomevara. Newport enjoyed a 1-12 to 0-12 half time lead with a 25th minute Stephen Coffey goal separating the sides. Newport had their purple patch in the third quarter with Michael Quigley going straight through the heart of the Toomevara defence on the restart for a goal. Newport outscored Toomevara 1-6 to 0-3 in this quarter. Toome responded with two goals in the final quarter through Tim Flaherty and John Cleary but Newport kept the scoreboard ticking over with six points in the final quarter to win by 2-24 to 2-18.

Stephen Coffey top scored with 1-7 (4 frees) for Newport with Jack Ryan (0-6, 4f), Brian Tobin (0-3) and Emmett Floyd (0-3) also prominent scorers for the victors. Toome’s best performances came from Kieran Boyle, Paddy Toohey, Conor Grace and James Brown.

The second game in the group did not go ahead as Lorrha conceded to Templederry Kenyons.

Templederry sit top of the group with four points, Lorrha and Newport have two points each with Ballinahinch and Toomevara yet to register points.

Round 3 in the group takes place this weekend. On Friday at 7.00pm, Newport will host Templederry Kenyons whilst Lorrha host Ballinahinch on Sunday 7th May at 12 noon.

Group 1 and Group 3 will commence this weekend. Both of Group 1's games will take place at 7.00pm on Sunday with Borrisokane hosting Kiladangan whilst Portroe will host Nenagh Eire Og. Group 3's games will take place this Friday at 7.00pm, Ballina host Burgess whilst Knockshegowna host Moneygall in Ballingarry.

Under 15 Football: The North U15 Football finals take place this Thursday 4th May with both games throwing in at 6.45pm. Ballina and Nenagh Eire Og will face each other in the 'A' Final in Cloughjordan. Nenagh will host the 'B' Final with Roscrea taking on Kilruane MacDonaghs. Admission is through tickets (which are available on the Tipperary GAA website) and a tap and go facility will also be available.

Under 13 Football: Congratulations to Ballina who claimed the North Under 13 'D' Football title last Wednesday in Portroe after a 2-4 to 1-1 final win over Nenagh Eire Og.
