Improvements at Borris’ Town Park
Borrisokane Town Park continues to improve and is a haven for both individuals and families seeking to enjoy the great outdoors. The entire effort is a voluntary one and anyone who would like to help out is more than welcome to come along. Usually, there is a work evening on Wednesdays at 7pm for an hour.
However, some people are consistently offering their time and talents to the park. Over the past few weeks, local residents Stephen Healy and Terry Owens have spent a lot of time and effort on improvements to the Park entrance from Egan’s Corner/Main Street. The result of their care and attention is that this pedestrian entrance to the park is now most attractive and pleasant. Well done to Stephen and Terry.
Elsewhere in the park, grass-cutting is a weekly task and Tony Brooks makes sure that grass is kept under tasteful control. Again, this is a big voluntary effort taking a lot of time given that the park covers almost 16 acres. An eco-activist visited the park some time ago and advised that we should get rid of our mower. The result of course is that the park would soon become a weed infested mess. The committee therefore declined to accept the activist’s advice, preferring instead to continue on the path of improvement so that the park can be enjoyed by all.
