Driving more visitors to Tipp in 2023

Promoting tourism in the county

‘Time for Tipperary’ is the Premier County’s tagline in 2023. After a recent brand refresh, Tipperary Tourism looks forward to rolling out the eye-catching brand to potential visitors across the island of Ireland and beyond.

Tipperary Tourism recognises the important opportunity that tourism provides in terms of economic impact, job creation and sustainability for the county. Tipperary County Council, working with other agencies and the tourism sector, established Tipperary Tourism Company in 2014. The primary objectives of Tipperary Tourism Company are to promote and develop Tipperary as Ireland's premier inland visitor destination in both the domestic and overseas markets; to encourage sustainability, through the improvement and addition of product offerings; to build capacity in the tourism sector; and extend visitor lengths of stay, thereby increasing spend within the county.

The Chairman of Tipperary Tourism for 2023 is John G O’Dwyer, renowned journalist and author of ‘50 Best Irish Walks’, which was launched recently. John G is a long-standing enthusiast and supporter of all that is walking and rural. Many may know him from his tireless work in helping to raise the profile of the pilgrim path, St. Declan’s Way – extending from Ardmore, Co Waterford to the Rock of Cashel.

“There is lots in Tipperary of interest to the visitor, and with the new focus on the great outdoors, getting active and staying fit, Tipperary is well placed for attracting visitors in 2023,” commented John G. “When visitors come to Tipperary for the landscape, whether it is for walking, hiking or water-related activities, the spin-off for the local economy is great, as visitors enjoy attractions along the way, eat, drink, and /or stay over in our friendly hospitality establishments.”

John G, along with Tipperary County Council’s newly appointed Tourism Marketing and Development Officer, Caroline Rice, encourage as many tourism providers as possible to join the membership-based Tipperary Tourism in 2023 and get involved. “There is much to be achieved in supporting each other, networking and sharing knowledge,” highlighted Caroline.

For 2023, the main focus will be on the domestic market, positioning Tipperary as the destination of choice for short breaks. Tipperary has a wealth of attractions including our landscape; walking, cycling, water activities; historic and friendly towns and villages; visitor experiences; heritage sites; places to stay; and fine locally sourced food.
