Funding boost for Third Level in Mid-West

Fine Gael TD for Limerick and North Tipperary and Minister of State Kieran O’Donnell welcomed the announcement today by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris TD of almost €5.9m in total government funding to UL, TUS and MIC for improvements to their college campuses and will be granted through the Higher Education Authority(HEA).

The funding can be used for energy efficiency and decarbonisation upgrades, investment to support universal access, general ICT and equipment upgrades, health and safety works and minor works and equipment. It is part of a national allocation of €40m to 20 third level institutions.

“I welcome the announcement today by by colleague Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris, of almost €5.9m in total government funding to UL, TUS and MIC to improve their college campuses across a range of areas.

“The funding can be used for energy efficiency and decarbonisation upgrades, investment to support universal access, general ICT and equipment upgrades, health and safety works and minor works and equipment.

“Improving physical access for people with Disabilities on college campuses is a key objective under this government funding stream.

UL - €2,163,966

TUS - €3,047,598

MIC - €656,854
