SUSI deadline for application

SUSI, the national student grant awarding authority, is urging students who have not yet submitted their application for student funding in academic year 2023/'24 to do so now by applying online at www.susi.ie

The priority closing date for new applications is Thursday, 6 July 2023.

“I encourage all further and higher education students planning to apply for funding for the new academic year to check out susi.ie and begin the process now. Students who submit their application on or before Thursday, 6 July 2023 will receive priority processing,” advised Eleanor Murphy, SUSI’s Communications and Customer Service Manager.

“Our aim is to have as many grant application decisions as possible with students before they start the new academic year. The current processing time for applications is 2 weeks however this may increase over the coming weeks as more applications are received. The sooner we receive the application, the sooner the student will receive an outcome.”

She added: “The income threshold for eligible undergraduate students has expanded to €100,000 for the first time so students who weren’t eligible for funding in the past, might be eligible in 2023/24. And remember, the amount a student can now earn outside term time has increased from €4,500 to €6,552. Students can get a quick and easy indication of their eligibility by using the eligibility indicator on our website.”

SUSI opened in April for new applications for academic year 2023/24. To date over 61,000 applications have been received from new and returning students with over 39,000 students already awarded funding.

Students do not need to have their Leaving Cert results or to have accepted a course to apply. They can simply supply details of the course they hope to study and can update their final course choice online at a later date.

SUSI will continue to accept applications for student funding after 6 July 2023 however these applications will not receive priority processing.
