Football managements update

By Shane Brophy

The Tipperary Football Committee are seeking expressions of interest for manager of the minor football team for 2024.

Current manager John McNamara’s two-year term has come to an end and while he is interested in staying on, the committee have decided to open up the position for competition as some members of McNamara’s management team are stepping away.

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday, 4th August.

Football committee chairperson Conor O’Dwyer has said the process in finding a successor for David Power as senior football manager is still “in the early stages” with discussions having taken place with a number of people but no formal interviews having taken place. They hope to be in a position to make an appointment towards the closing stages of the club championship.

One of those who has ruled themselves out is under 20 manager Niall Fitzgerald who will remain in his current role where there are murmurings that the under 20 championship will change from a straight knockout championship to some form of a round robin format which would benefit Tipperary to play more competitive games.
