Run with Dunne in Borrisokane

This Sunday, August 6, sees a new event coming to Borrisokane – the inaugural Borrisokane AC ‘Run With Dunne’.

Borrisokane AC are promoting the inaugural road race in honour of one of our finest athletes including Cillian Dunne.

This is a festival of road races covering all age groups and abilities and will be a showcase for many athletic abilities. The event consists of a 1k under 12 race, a 1k wheelchair race, a 5k family fun run/walk and a 10k road race. Events start at 11am with the 1k races. The finish line will be on the Main Street with great vantage points for all. The 1k races will start at Bushy Park Nursing Home on the Nenagh Road and finish on the Main Street. All other races will start and finish on the Main street.

Registration will also be open on the day at Tess Burke’s pub on Main Street from 10am.

All finishers of all races will receive a finisher's medal and there will be cash prizes for the main event, the 10k race. There will be music on the street and refreshments will be available in Tess Burke’s after the races.

We are delighted to welcome some very special guests on the day. Sean Cronin, including former Ireland and Leinster rugby player with 206 appearances for Leinster and 72 Irish caps; Adam King from the Late Late Toy Show, November 2020, who introduced us all to the virtual hug;

Shane Curran, para-athlete from Galway, winner of numerous world, national and international medals, who is also a keen para-cyclist; Kate Leenane, a young Ballinderry lady is training with the Munster wheelchair hurling squad and also plays wheelchair basketball and is entering into the world of para-athletics; Cillian Dunne, international wheelchair racer, holder of four Irish records and numerous world, national and international medals.
