Putting on a great show in Nenagh on Bank Holiday Monday

The North Tipperary Agricultural Show Committee have pulled out all the stops this year to ensure that there is something for everyone in the lines of entertainment, shows and competitions at this year’s show, which takes place on the August Bank Holiday Monday, August 7.

The agricultural traditions and values of the North Tipperary Show are as strong as ever. It is no wonder the North Tipperary Agricultural show is one of Ireland’s oldest and best shows. The heart of the North Tipperary Agricultural Show is the community and the people in it who have been supporting the show for generations. This year we have spent time looking over the various sections in the show and making some changes that might attract new people to the show as well as ensuring we retain the traditional elements that our loyal supporters have become accustomed to.

PET FARM

We feel it is extremely important for young people to not only see animals at these shows but to learn more about them and so this year we have an extra special treat in store for not only small kids but for the big kids too!

Wooly farm from Moneygall will be at the North Tipperary Agricultural Show on August 7. This is certainly one of the best pet farms that I have come across and it is one not to be missed!

Young and old will be blown away with the variety of friendly animals that Wooly farm will have on the day. From small furry rabbits to baby lambs, chicks, goats and much, much more.

There will also be a special guest animal on the day that will certainly get the attention of both young and old. The amazing staff at Wooly farm are very interactive and try and educate young minds about the importance of being kind to animals. This will be a very popular part of this year’s show, especially for younger children.

CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS

And if that wasn’t enough to keep our young people entertained, we will be holding a children’s fancy dress competition on show day. The theme for the fancy dress will be “The Greatest Showman”. We will have judging for this and the most suitably dressed persons from 4pm on the Arrabawn Stage.

BOUNCING CASTLES AND MUSIC

We will also have multiple bouncing castles, free face painting, pimp your wellie (Wellington boot) competition and much, much more. We have an amazing lineup of music for this year’s show that will keep not only country music fans happy but the entire show. We have country stars Tex Deegan and Colin Kenny starting off the morning’s music sessions followed in the afternoon by Glór Tíre winner 2022, Aishling Raffery, who will keep everyone entertained.

CATTLE AND SHEEP CLASSES

We are pleased to announce that we have a great uptake in entries for both cattle and sheep classes again this year which is great to see. We have altered the sheep classes for this year, and it should make things more competitive and see even more entries as we close out the final weeks leading up to the show.

PONY CLASSES

Unfortunately, we will not have show jumping at this year’s show, but we will have the working hunter classes along with some great pony classes for this year. We had a big uptake last year with entries in the pony classes, and we hope that we can build on that success for this year again. It is great see so many young people turning out and competing in these classes. The damp weather did not take from the fantastic day in the rings at last year’s show.

DOG SHOW 2023

No matter who you talk to, the one standout part of the show for many people is the dog show, and we expect this year to be no different. Each year we attract huge entries to the dog show, and it is such a great spectacle for both dog owners and onlookers to view the smallest and largest of dogs – and the ones in between. They seem to put a smile on everyone’s face, and we look forward to seeing them all at this year’s show.

HORTICULTURE AND CRAFTS

The Horticultural Tent is always a busy hive of activity on show day and this year will be no different. From home baking to photography, to craft beer and honey, this year is certainly going to be different and we looking forward to seeing the many entries at the show. We will also be displaying the entries in the “Pimp Your Wellie” competition in the tent on the day - and remember, it’s just one Wellington per entry.

NENAGH CLASSIC CAR CLUB DISPLAY

This year the Nenagh Classic Car Club celebrates its 10th anniversary and they hope to put on an extra special display of vehicles at this year’s show. All classic and vintage vehicles are welcome, and this year the club is appealing to people with vintage tractors and machinery to come along to the show as we would love to see them at the show. The Club is asking exhibitors to be in the field before 12pm on the day of the show in the interest of health and safety for the pedestrians walking into the field.
