Successful retrofitting event in Mid-West

The ‘Retrofitting Ireland: Building Resilience in Irish Homes’ took place at the University of Limerick on Friday, July 28.

The event encompassed a highly informative conference and a dynamic mini trade show, providing a platform for elected representatives, Irish and EU policy experts, industry leaders, and citizens to discuss the path towards more energy-efficient and sustainable homes in the country.

The event featured a diverse array of topics for discussion, covering crucial aspects such as the distribution of bank loans and grants, EU-level policies, retrofitting targets, and the challenges confronting both the construction industry and households.

The panellists actively engaged with the audience during the interactive Q&A led by MEP Kelly; this session fostered frank discussions and led to the exchanging valuable perspectives.

The panel included Niall O’Connor, the Managing Director of Kingspan; Julien Tami, a Policy Officer at DG ENERGY in the department in charge of energy efficiency in buildings; Dr Ciaran Byrne, the Director of National Retrofit and a member of the Executive Leadership Team in SEAI, and Hubert Fitzpatrick, the Director General.
