Man hospitalised after assault in Nenagh. And, following a number of bicyucle thefts in the locality, this bicycle was recovered by gardaí in Millers Brook, Nenagh. They are seeking an owner.

Man is hospitalised after Nenagh assault

Gardaí are investigating a number of burglaries in the Nenagh area and an assault in the town last Monday that left a man hospitalised.

Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll of the local garda station said members of the force were investigating a number of break-ins to properties in the locality that happened over the past fortnight or so.

Among the incidents was a break-in to an apartment at Carrig Rua some time between July 29-30. A similar incident occurred at an apartment at Gortlandroe on August 1. Sergeant O’ Carroll is urging anyone with information to come forward.

He said a business premises was targeted in Nenagh on August 2 last and items stolen.

Meanwhile, local election Labour Party candidate Louise Morgan Walsh posted on Facebook that Mulrooney’s Gala shop on Borrisokane Road was broken into last week and she urged that if anyone noticed any suspicious in the locality on the night of the crime they should contact the gardaí.

While gardaí were on patrol in the early hours of July 28 they heard a noise coming from the back of a business premises on the Borrisokane Road in Nenagh. On further investigation they observed a man attempting to steal items from the rear yard of the premises.

The man was apprehended and detained at Nenagh Garda Station where he was later charged with theft offences.

CAR STOLEN

On Thursday last, August 3, a car was stolen in the Nenagh area and was later located by gardaí at Ballingarry in Lower Ormond. A man was later charged with theft of the vehicle and five other thefts and was remanded in custody.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses in Silver Street, Nenagh, in the early hours of last Monday, August 7, in relation to an assault in the locality. One man was injured and had to be taken to hospital, Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll told The Guardian. Gardaí believe a weapon was used during the course of the incident.

Sergeant O’ Carroll said there has been an increase in the number of bicycles stolen in the district recently, including one from the Radharc Darach estate between Saturday and Sunday last, while another was stolen from outside a local shop on July 29.

Gardaí reported nine breaches of public order over the past number of days, the majority of which occurred in Nenagh and one in Roscrea.
