Launch of Book of Dimma Project exhibition

The launch of the Book of Dimma Project exhibition, created by the Ballycommon Craft Group in conjunction with Cloughjordan artist Lian Callaghan, will take place at the Thomas MacDonagh Museum on this Friday, August 25, from 7.30 to 9.30pm.

The makers took their inspiration from the stunningly illustrated Book of Dimma - Tipperary's own Book of Kells - creating a selection of beautiful and unique textile interpretations of this Roscrea eighth century Gospel Book. The event will include an exhibition of the pieces created by the Ballycommon Craft Group as well as images from the Book of Dimma.

The makers will be available to explain some of the techniques used to create the exhibition, and you can discover some of the history and mythology of the Book of Dimma with a short introduction by historian and author George Cunningham from Roscrea.

The exhibition will remain on display at the Thomas MacDonagh Museum until Saturday, September 30.
