McDonald's opening in Nenagh

McDonald’s has confirmed it is to open its newest restaurant in Ireland in Nenagh, creating at least 60 jobs initially.

The new restaurant is set to open on November 22 in a prominent 218 square metre site in Nenagh Retail Park on the Limerick Road, with customers able to order their food in-restaurant and via the drive-thru.

New roles created at the restaurant will range from crew member to managerial and will include both full and part time positions.

McDonald’s Franchisee John Quirke said: “This major investment in Nenagh reflects McDonald’s commitment to growing its business in Ireland and will create significant levels of employment, both directly and indirectly through the agri-food, manufacturing and construction sectors.

“As a major employer throughout Ireland, we expect to create more than 60 jobs initially and we are hopeful that number will increase significantly going forward as we become embedded in the area.”

Mr Quirke said that forging strong community links in Nenagh and the surrounding area will be a key focus for the restaurant team in the months ahead.

“McDonald’s is committed to serving the local communities around our restaurants, so we are very much looking forward to building relationships with local community groups and organisations in Nenagh and the surrounding area.”

The new Nenagh restaurant brings McDonald’s portfolio of restaurants in Ireland to 95, all of which are operated by franchisees, employing more than 7,000 staff.
