FBD Insurance County Championships

The final round of games in the FBD Insurance County Senior & Intermediate Football Championships took place last weekend and provided some very entertaining games as well as one or two surprizes. See football reports and round-up on pages 70 & 71.

In group 1 of the intermediate championship, there were wins for Clonmel Commercials over Golden Kilfeacle, 2-9 to 1-10 in New Inn, while Moyne-Templetuohy received a walkover from Moyle Rovers. That saw Clonmel Commercials top the group with Moyne Templetuohy in second place.

In group 2, there were wins for Grangemockler/Ballyneale and Fethard over Fr. Sheehy’s and Clonmel Óg respectively and that was enough to see the two winners qualify for the quarter finals.

In group 3, CJ Kickhams Mullinahone overcame Aherlow 1-10 to 0-12 in Cahir, JK Brackens defeated Loughmore/Castleiney 5-10 to 2-9 in Holycross, while in Boherlahan, Galtee Rovers proved to be far too strong for Thurles Sarsfields as they ran out 4-15 to 0-7 winners. As a result of these games the teams progressing out of group 3 which was a 6 team group are, Galtee Rovers, Thurles Sarsfields, CJ Kickhams Mullinahone and Aherlow.

So, with the group rounds of the county senior and intermediate football championship having now been finalised. The following are the final positions.

Semple Field Day 2023

What a day we had last Saturday with the staging of the Semple Field Day which was held in and around FBD Semple Stadium.

The highlight of the day was the Under 9 hurling blitz that started at 10am and continued until 4.30pm and saw over 1,200 children getting the chance to run out on to the Field of Legends, play a game on the pitch and then they were taken on a tour of the stadium by members of the Tipperary senior hurling & football panels. A lot of planning went in to the day and huge credit must go to Brian Fogarty from our sponsor’s Fiserv whose idea it was to hold the day and who put such work in to making sure everything went well. Also, great credit goes to County Games Manager Kevin Hally and his team who ran the blitz and made sure that everything went smoothly and was enjoyed by all those taking part.
