Club Championships are heating up

Quarter Finals weekend in the Tipperary club hurling championship is always special and with the group stages concluded, all the remaining clubs can realistically eye glory.

This weekend, there are fifteen quarter finals from senior to junior ‘A’ grades with another four relegation semi-finals in the premier intermediate and intermediate championships for good measure.

Much of the focus will be on the senior quarter finals which will be housed at FBD Semple Stadium, starting on Friday evening when Kiladangan take on Holycross/Ballycahill who are appearing in their first quarter final in over thirty years.

Roscrea will also end a significant wait for a quarter final on Saturday afternoon when they take on Loughmore/Castleiney, while the final two quarter finals will form a double-header on Sunday afternoon with Toomevara and Clonoulty/Rossmore getting proceedings underway, following by the all-Mid affair between Drom & Inch and Thurles Sarsfields.

Thurles Sarsfields ended Nenagh Eire Og’s hopes with a 1-27 to 1-23 win in the preliminary quarter final in Borrisoleigh on Saturday while Clonoulty/Rossmore's 1-23 to 1-20 win over Mullinahone on Sunday means the relegation playoffs are now delayed with JK Brackens, Kilruane MacDonaghs and Upperchurch/Drombane in limbo until such time as when Clonoulty/Rossmore’s quest for Dan Breen ends, and if they go on and win it, they will be exempt from relegation after finishing in bottom spot in their group.
