Carew Park 1-2 Newport Town

Newport Town advanced to the second round of the FAI Junior Cup with an exciting 2-1 win away versus Carew Park on Sunday morning.

The game was evenly poised when Newport took a lead just before half time. The impressive Daniel Ryan pounced on a Carew Park defensive error to hit a beauty from twenty yards to the roof of the net.

Carew came out after the restart and got their equaliser when player manager Kieran Hanlon finished in a crowded goalmouth. The game was end to end thereafter and it was Newport who got the break when Darren Collins fired from 25 yards to give the keeper no chance and put Newport on their way.
