Roscrea Speakers Club returns
Meeting held in Rackett Hall Hotel,
Our new season of Roscrea Speakers Club, Toastmasters International started back after our summer break on Thursday, August 31. Our meetings take place in Rackett Hall Hotel, Roscrea, at 8pm, fortnightly as well as on Zoom. Toastmaster on the night was Larry Lyons, topicsmaster was Edel Carey, timer role performed by Charles Hannon and grammarian role Sean Dwan.
Our speeches on the night were by Julie Murphy entitled ‘Sharpen that saw’ and the second speech section was a change from the normal speech in that we had a topic which was debated by two of our members, Teresa and Alan, for two minutes each. The topic was ‘Should vaping be banned indoors’ with arguments for a ban and against a ban proving very entertaining. Julie’s speech was evaluated by our newest member, which was a great challenge for him and one that Rohan completed excellently. Julie’s speech and the debate challenge proved hugely enjoyable for the audience and challenging for the participants.
We were very happy with how our first meeting of the year went and very pleased that our new members settled in and enjoyed proceedings. While new members are always welcome at any time of the year, the beginning of the new season is always a time when curious people join our meetings to see if the personal growth opportunities that will be afforded to them are what they are looking for. If public speaking to a small group or larger group is difficult for you , if you have a best man speech or any public speaking event coming up that you would like to improve your skills for, or if you just want to improve your communication skills and confidence at social occasions, please feel free to join our meetings online if you wish from the comfort of your own home and experience the opportunities our club can offer you.
