Land given for exciting development in Roscrea

A Section 183 notice for the disposal of land to pave the way for a new business development in Roscrea was passed at this week's meeting of Tipperary Co Council.

Land at the Roscrea Business and Technology Park, Benamore, was disposed of to Quitmann O'Neill Facilities Ltd to facilitate the construction of a building to be used for the specialised cleaning and reconditioning of all types of steel, and plastic drums and containers. Nenagh-based Quitmann O'Neill, which has operated out of facilities in Portumna for the last 30 years, is to make a €5 million investment in the site with potential to employ 30 people.

Local councillor Michael Smith told last week's meeting of the council that there is "great excitement" in Roscrea about the potential of the former Shannon Development site, which the council purchased in 2014. The Quitmann O'Neill investment has encouraged a number of other potential investors to look at the Benamore site, he said.
