Exciting programme of events across the county

Culture Night returns on Friday September 22, inviting the public to revel in culture, creativity, and the arts. This nationwide event, made possible through the continued support of the Arts Council and Local Authorities across Ireland, opens doors late into the evening and offers free access to an exciting range of creative and cultural events and activities.

NENAGH

Nenagh and surrounding areas offer something for everyone to enjoy this Culture Night. Nenagh Arts Centre are inviting audiences to experience the mesmerising Siolta Circus with shows at 6pm and 8.30pm as well as a workshop in between. Earlier in the evening, young musicians are coming together to perform a selection of unreleased original material at Nenagh Tourist Office from 4.45pm. Following this, the Nenagh Players are holding an Open Mic night and welcoming storytellers, actors, singers and comedians to join them for a variety showcase from 8-10pm.

BORRISOKANE

Borrisokane’s Art D Gallery and Studio are hosting a multiple artists evening for all to enjoy, drop by and meet and talk with the artists about their works. Live Art Ireland present a screening of films and live performances from the Soil and Grass residences held at Milford House earlier this year, exploring works by new collective Mna Rogaire. The Thomas MacDonagh Museum in Cloughjordan are hosting an informal spoken word Poetry Slam as part of the first Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School and invite all to join for spoken word readings by guests and the community from 7pm-10pm.

NEWPORT

Further afield, Newport Community Centre joins the Culture Night line-up with a historical walk through the town, followed by an exhibition of local arts, along with music, drama and dance performances that celebrate all cultures in the town.

The Bridge Creative Arts Centre in Ballina offer an exhibition of creative visual artworks, showcasing water-themed paintings by local artists in the community. The ‘Along the River Shannon’ exhibition runs from 6pm-9pm this Culture Night.

TERRYGLASS

Artist Trish Taylor Thompson invites Ukrainian communities all across Tipperary to join in a workshop to create art that will be part of the ‘Sunflowers Soniashnyk’ art exhibition being held in Terryglass Community Hall, a wonderful opportunity for budding artists to come together and celebrate the Ukrainian national flower- the sunflower/soniashnyk.

ROSCREA

Or why not head over to Damer House Gallery from 8pm-10pm where two young local artists will discuss the process of animation and film making from initial sketches to the finished creation.
