Orange wind warning for Tipp

Orange wind warning in place for Tipperary: -

•Wind warning bringing very strong and gusty southerly gusts with some severe and damaging gusts. Valid until 5pm this Wednesday.

Yellow rain warning in place for Tipperary which will lead to difficult travel conditions, localised flooding and poor visibility.

Met Eireann weather warnings will be monitored in the event

The council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team met this morning to assess the situation and to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place in advance of this severe weather event. All emergency repair crews and contractors will be on standby and ready to deal with any emergencies.

The council wishes to advise the public to prepare for power outages, fallen trees and difficult travel conditions. Householders urged to take precautions by securing all outdoor furniture and leisure items such as trampolines and goalposts.

Motorists are advised not to make any unnecessary journeys during the orange events and should exercise extreme caution because of the danger posed by localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions/disruption, structural damage, falling trees.
