Camogie All-Stars for Tipp’s Kennedy and Devane
The 2023 PwC Camogie All-Star Awards were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony, in Croke Park on Saturday night.
The event paid tribute to the outstanding achievements of the country’s top camogie players following an exhilarating 2023 season.
The event, hosted by RTE’s Marie Crowe, saw Tipperary claim two All Star awards with Thurles Sarsfields Karen Kennedy taking the number 5 position with Clonoulty/Rossmore star Cáit Devane chosen at corner forward.
It’s a second award for both Karen & Cáit who were Tipperary’s standout performers this season as we reached the All-Ireland semi-final.
Joint captain in 2023, Karen Kennedy led the team and the defence from half back all year. She had a brilliant season and Saturday’s award was a fitting tribute.
Tipperary’s leader in attack, Cáit Devane, had lots of brilliant displays throughout the year especially her player of the match performance against Antrim in the All-Ireland quarter final where she scored 2-6, including a contender for goal of the season.
There was great cheers of delight from family, friends, and representatives of the Tipperary County board when both Karen and Cáit were announced as deserving winners.
The recipients of the recently announced 2023 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars also picked up their awards in Croke Park. Eire Og Annacarty’s Jean Kelly was named corner forward on the team. Jean scored all of Tipperary’s ten goals leading up to the All-Ireland final, including an amazing 5-4 against Wicklow, 3-4 against Cavan and 2-7 against Roscommon. Her speed and eye for goal made her a nightmare for any defender this year leading to her deserved selection on the team of the year.
