Contests for Nenagh Toastmasters

Last week we had our annual humorous speech and table topics contest.

Each contestant for the humorous speech prepares a speech of five to seven minutes duration. There are a number of other members who act independently as judges and score the contestants.

All of the speakers gave exceptional speeches. For the table topics contest, each contestant is given the same topic by the contest chair. The contest chair on the night was Joe Ryan. No contestant had prior knowledge of the topic.

The contestants for both competitions were Eileen Dight, Eileen Kennedy, Tony Spain and Sean Butler. Prize winners for the humorous speech contest were in first place Tony Spain and second place Sean Butler. Prize winners for the table topics contest: first place, Eileen Dight and second place, Tony Spain.

We wish them every success in the area final, which is a contest between the winners of all the clubs in the area. A great night’s entertainment!
